This ROCK! for the most part

I finally got a chance to use these bad boys after a BIG snow storm here in upstate New York on December 16-17, 2020 when we were predicted to be 9"-16". , but Mother Nature ejected 45 inches with a sense of humor! I live in the country so in translation it means a plow if and IF it comes it will make a pass 3 days after the storm and then forget about us until next winter. I can't sell my house during a storm and move closer to a city where streets are treated with far more respect and dignity. I figured I'd come up with a plan that would be more economical than selling a kidney and buying a $62,000 John Deere tractor with a heated cab and air conditioning and all the essential front shovel loaders that my rural neighbor a few acres has (very jealous?). After many hours of "research" here on Revain, which honestly means just shopping ;) I've settled on these TreadReady straps in pink! I may be super capable and super confident, uh, independent, but I'm still a pink chick! I ended up only putting 2 belts on both front tires of my minivan because I'm already late for work and I'm pretty lazy about it too. Strangely, mine came with no instructions, so I took a quick look at the video here and it looked ridiculously easy. Well, putting them on was ridiculously easy. It took me about 10 minutes in the snow and in the dark with a flashlight. And so I set out to traverse the icy, snowy, hilly, dark, winding roads of the outback we call home. Wow! From the start I felt how these guys dig and take no prisoners! I never went more than 20 miles per hour for a trip of about 5 miles until I reached Civilization and the Easter Roads, where I pulled into a well-lit parking lot and removed my seat belts to begin my journey on the "Beloved Child's Roads." " to continue. I admit that undressing took a little longer than dressing. I tightened them very tight but the biggest problem was depressing BOTH springs at the same time and pulling the strap out of the ratchet. I figured this out using good ol' common sense and also the included white hard plastic hook that helps pull the straps through the holes in the rim, which is totally cool btw. All in all I'm very impressed having only used them on one storm and happy to give this product a big pink thumbs up! UPDATE: I had the chance to use them 2 times and was a bit disappointed when 3 of them broke. However, their customer support is exceptional and resolved the issue quickly and satisfactorily!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
