I really wanted this router to work. My impression from the reviews is that Peplink makes safe, high quality products and quickly fixes any security issues found. I was willing to pay a premium ($195) for security and reliability. I was very disappointed and gave up after a year and bought a TP-Link AC1200 for $50. In just a week, TP-Link has already proven to be more reliable. The problems I see with Peplink are: 1. It's complicated to set up and the documentation doesn't give good advice on what to do. For example, on day two, our devices (Windows computers, Wi-Fi and Ethernet) and our PS4 (Wi-Fi) went down for a few minutes. Why? I checked the logs but found nothing. Finally, I changed the IP address lease from 24 hours to 365 days and that seemed to help. The documentation is missing descriptions of many options, such as B. "Boost".3. In general, WiFi was often unreliable. For example, we had to restart the router about once a month. Over time the problems got worse again and I spent an hour resetting the router and checking all the settings again, this time following an online guide. Everything worked. better, but we still had daily power outages. Between the router, the cable modem, and our ISP, it can sometimes be difficult to know which part is faulty. For example, we contacted the neighbors. (Your internet was fine.) I also checked the status of the cable modem (via the web interface) and everything is fine. Eventually, replacing the Peplink router showed that this was the main problem. The TP-Link AC1200 is four times cheaper, much easier to set up, offers better signal strength and is much more reliable. TP-Link still has all the extra options I need like choosing my own DNS provider (like Cloudflare) for better privacy instead of using my ISP's DNS.
