We store our butter at room temperature for many years, in the past some family members were surprised, but now they know that it is perfectly safe. Also, we tend to use less oil, so it's good for the waistline too. I lost the butter knife that came with my original cutlery set, thought I'd order another one and stumbled across this cool gadget. It works great with soft butter, will probably work well with hard butter too, but I didn't have it because that's not how we roll. I've included a video so you can see how it works. It's really neat and doesn't bother the needy kid in the background. It's hard to find that moment when he starts yelling Mommy, so I apologize.
