Review on 🐠 Optimize Your Aquarium with Fluval 07 Series Canister Filter for Improved Performance by Danielle Mitchell

I make a living from aquariums. I've been using Fluval canister filters for over 20 years since they were introduced in the 03 series and now probably own about 25 of them of various generations and sizes. They've had some issues in each of the previous generations, but overall they keep improving and are easy to set up, maintain, and diagnose. Just installing this to replace a 10 year old model (404) and my customer complained about the noise it was making. Rather than replacing the impeller, shaft and impeller cover, which would probably have helped, we decided to upgrade to a three generation older model due to the age of the filter and the improvements. There's a lot of marketing nonsense on the Fluval site. about what new features are included in this generation. But below are notable improvements for those thinking of upgrading. - We made the canister itself more durable by strengthening the bottom corners and improving the mechanism for opening the aquastop valve (but otherwise it seems unchanged). - The impeller cover seems to be the same. from the 06 series (this was the best improvement over the old 04/05 series which kept breaking the tab). The new drawer for the media baskets is handy because they all slide in and out at the same time. The filter is noticeably quieter than previous models, it is very quiet, but not silent. I was hoping they would switch to DC operation in this new generation as that seems to be the way most aquarium return pumps seem to be going. Overall I think it's a good upgrade from the 05 series and below, but if you own the 06 series you really don't get all that much of the new model. If you are setting up a new aquarium and don't have a filter, this is a good choice. As previously mentioned, these filters have a certain history and have become more powerful, more reliable, easier to maintain and quieter with each improved generation. When using a canister filter in a new customer's aquarium, I choose the Fluval FX Series filter. If I notice any issues with this new 07 series I will update my review in the future.
