Looks great, durable, upper is a bit loose

I like the look of these shoes. My son is a very, very (did I mention VERY?) active three year old. He ruins shoes by running everywhere, climbing rocks, kicking gravel, and using his feet as brakes on his scooter. Thus, this shoe has withstood these active demands well. BUT they also fell off a few times. His feet are the right length for her, but they dangle a bit on top where the tongue is. I've tied them as tightly as I dared without overdoing them and with only two pairs of grommets, they're still not too tight on my son's legs. And when they're tied tight, I can pull his leg out with a little wiggle, but I can't put his legs back in without loosening them. I think they might be a better fit in a month or so. Maybe his legs still need to be filled in. He still wears them because they're good all-around shoesโ€”kind of smart, casual, and durableโ€”but when I need to put the shoes on really quickly, I usually grab another pair with velcro or elastic on the tongue to hold my foot. leg tighter.
