I use it for my praying mantis. I removed the back decorative foam piece which was easy, I didn't want fruit flies hiding in the deep grooves behind it. It's really easy to use, especially for insect keepers. This is the perfect size for my praying mantis, but I think it would be too small for any reptile. A tree tarantula would probably love this, but the only downside would be the large opening in the front. I use the top for feeding
