These filters replace the entire plastic cartridge filter unit that came with Winix. This overly complex plastic thing just needs to be thrown away. The quality seemed good. Mine looked just as good as the main product photo. White comes first, then one of the black pre-filters. The white main filter fits perfectly. For me, the black pre-filter tilts vertically forward. It retracts normally when running. It could probably be better secured with tape or something. Mine always works so I didn't bother. The black filter is changed every 3-4 months. Works well and saves me buying a replacement for a $100 freeway heist, which I don't think I could bring myself to do. Oh yes, there is a smell from the pre-filter, but that goes away after a few days.
