🔄 Authentic Winix 115115 Filter A Replacement | C535, 5300-2, P300, 5300 Compatible Review

Hi guys I have no idea why this happened. but exactly 1 week later the filter started to stink like crazy. At first I was wondering what stinks in the room. I stopped the car and after a few minutes the smell went away. When I opened it up and smelled the filter. I wish I had never done that! what was it and why I tried to keep it outside for 1 week even in the sun. Ok I bought it with Winix 5500-2. BUT this package is not fully compatible with 5500-2. It doesn't have the same carbon filter as the 5500-2. I think that's why it was such a good deal, but I'm a little annoyed that it's being sold as a set as if they match when actually they're not the same filter sets. I suspect I could supply multiple of these carbon pre-filters instead of a single 5500-2 carbon filter, but that's not really what I want to do.

These filters replace the entire plastic cartridge filter unit that came with Winix. This overly complex plastic thing just needs to be thrown away. The quality seemed good. Have been using this Winix 5300 air purifier for a few years, buying the same filter, last not long ago in September but this is the first time mold has happened grows on it. As you can see in the first photo the top filter is an old dirty genuine filter that I wanted to replace. The bottom filter was made out of some sort of hot glue. I ordered the Winix filter 115115 in May 2016 and it is an exact replacement for the original filter. Ordered mid-April 2017 and now they've turned into this cheap stuff that smells like plastic. It's also 1mm smaller on the sides and 1mm taller. As a result, air is sucked in at the sides and sags a bit because it is too high. The quality is comparable to cheap filters from China.
