Do you like USB 3.1 speed on USB 3.1 adapters? Me too, so initially I was very, VERY disappointed with the performance of this adapter when I first tried it. I only got USB 2.0 speeds with my external NVME drive. 40MB/s? What is this, 2011? After some experimentation, it turned out that you need to point the USB-C connector in a certain direction to get the right data transfer speeds. This defeats the purpose of USB-C, and again you have to ask yourself "did I plug it in correctly?". Two stars because it can REALLY achieve USB 3.1 speeds if you either A) get lucky the first time, or B) can reselect all your files after unplugging the USB-C cable and flipping it if you're using the Start transferring files and see how slow it is. Just get a Monoprice adapter. It really works.
