Metal halide lights are a real pain. Bulbs cost $36. When lightning strikes, it turns off the lamp and does not return by itself. You need to turn off the power for about 15 minutes. Heat attracts insects. I had to remove the bottom cover and put 1/4" standoffs between the bottom cover and the lamp body so I could remove the bugs, used a pipe cleaner. The lamp needs to breathe through the heat, the plastic cap will yellow over time. Replaced these Replaced the twilight lamp with an LED barn lamp and couldn't be happier. No heat, no bugs and the lamp is rated for 40,000 hours and is rated at 35W.
