The cable was bad. on Tools & Equipment
Tried to get this to work on 2 different laptops. After spending about 5 hours trying to get this to work I gave up and sent it back. I bought one from another company that is really similar. I downloaded the drivers the same way as here. Once I plugged in a cable from another company, it magically saw the cable unlike this one after installing the drivers. Moral of the story is don't waste 5 hours on this, once you've downloaded the drivers and plugged in the cable the computer should recognize there's something there and load the driver.
