Review on Shakespeare SRA 50 SiriusXM Satellite Antenna by Paul Wall

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good antenna, but I got a defective one.

This is the second galaxy I own. The reception is superior to any other satellite radio I've tried. There are three mounting options: socket as shown, raised flush mount (using the top screw kit and mounting platform) or direct surface mount which is just an antenna head with a slotted screw. coming from below to fix it to the surface with a lock nut. I didn't give five stars just because the slotted bolt was deformed and wouldn't screw into the antenna head. This prompted me to change the socket mount option instead of my first choice. There was no time to return as most of the radar arch and interior had to be dismantled to lay the cable. The cable must pass through the lock nut of the mounting screw for it to work. There's no way I'm going to take it all apart again to fix it. Not to mention that I had to drill three holes for mounting screws, which are only unclosed by the antenna head. So here's a tip: disassemble and reassemble the antenna to make sure everything fits before you begin installation. That way you know you have options. Mike from the Lifesaport onboard blog.
