Review on Journal Taotree Fineliner Journaling Supplies by Dawn Fischer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent value for money

These are by far the cheapest, brands like Staedtler and Faber are 5x to 10x worth more expensive. Of course they have differences and disadvantages, but at this price point it's easy to overlook that. I prefer handwriting rollerball pens (Uniball or Precise v5/v7) but I'm working on a special art class that requires felt tip pens. Advantages: price. The ink is even. So far the durability is good. Very little flow at the edges. Doesn't smudge. (Used with a ruler that wipes the line instantly and leaves no smudges). Cons: They suck up the paper behind them, but most (all?) felt tip pens do. They're not as bad as eg Sharpies, but they're not as good as the more expensive Staedtler/Micron etc. They're a bit difficult to hold due to the thin shaft. I have small hands and thought it wouldn't bother me, but the texture of the plastic case is kind of silky (looks nice) which makes it feel a bit greasy. As another reviewer mentioned, this can be fixed with a pen/pencil. I bought six packs from Dr. Seuss for a dollar at Dollar Tree. Pros and Cons: Water-based inks have no odor and are advertised as non-toxic (Pro). Water-based ink reacts with the watercolor if you plan to apply the ink and then put watercolor on top (again), but again, many permanent markers will do this.

Pros
  • HIGH QUALITY. The water-based ink is specially formulated to reduce smudging and prevent bleed on paper for neat note taking, drawing and adult coloring books. These fiber pens produce fine lines and rich, water-based colour. Add a lot of fun to whatever you write. GREAT markers for drawing lines and details, journaling, planners, calendars, diaries, notebooks, notes, drawing, writing, coloring
Cons
  • No Automatic

Great pens! No bleeding. They write very smoothly.
