I only used it to rivet a new chain as I cut the old one off with a grinder. The riveting tools worked perfectly. If I was going to use this to pop a rivet out, I would first grind the head of the rivet. The "rivets" on my chain (other than the main link) are mostly hardened steel bars. No rivets at all. I wouldn't expect any tool to remove them. If you have any idea what you do in a shop or with tools, I assume this thing will stick with you for life as a shade tree mechanic. I ignore bad reviews. They seem to come from people who have no right to work on something this important anyway.
