Much smaller than most of these laser thermos flasks. But it works fine and accurate. Don't take the first reading. Treat the first measurement as a calibration. The instructions are useless, but it's not hard to figure out. After the first calibration reading that doesn't give you an accurate reading, the next reading will be very accurate. This gadget is tiny and light. But it doesn't really need a lot of electronics to do what it does. The hardest part is the batteries, which are NOT included. I think they were either AA or AAA. I can't remember which one. I've had this for several months. Seems to be holding up well. Really great for taking chimney measurements.
