I like to make curry and my counters are unfortunately white. Curry stains. There are "other people" in my house that are also sometimes too lazy to grab a cutting board and will attempt to do so on the counter. This helps with both of those.The soft, silicone material has some give to it while being slip resistant. Having your cutting board slip and slide around while using it is not safe. This helps prevent things from sliding off the counter.It cleans up pretty easily with a damp soapy sponge while still in place on your counter or other flat surface. You may want to lift it and clean underneath every once in a while though. Perhaps even wipe it down in the sink occasionally.I haven't placed anything hot on it yet and probably won't until it's an accident. I still place a cork hot pad on top of it if placing a hot pot or pan. I definitely would not ever place it inside my oven.I like them enough that I will be purchasing another set. This next one will go on top of my short counter where I store and use my Instant Pot.
