I bought a manual rotator and this thing couldn't make me 2 easy projects before it was so stupid I had to press hard and of course the fabric was slipping all over the place as I mostly work with lycra. Working with this thing is a DREAM. It took me a while to get used to how far to hold it and what to do with the cord (throw it over my shoulder), but once I got the hang of it I cut nearly perfect fabric. I weight my pattern and fabric with food cans (I have to buy fabric weights!) and I get perfect 1/2 inch seam allowances and this thing cuts curves like a dream. The only thing you need to practice. This is when you need to change direction abruptly. Learning how to pause and restart can be a little tricky at first, but it's MUCH easier than anything I've ever used. I didn't understand how to use it to cut nice even strips of fabric. If the piece of fabric is flimsy, it's much easier to cut a shape out of a larger piece of fabric than a moving one. So far I have made 5 swimsuits and skirts and there is no indication of the need for sharpening. I am very excited about this purchase, wish I had done it sooner. I'm a beginner seamstress who really struggled with the pattern due to the slippery fabric I'm working with.
