Review on ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ MOOG K781 Ball Joint: Superior Performance and Durability for Optimal Suspension Control by Micheal Chaplain

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Made in the USA when cast

Good connection and fit. The trunk would not close. Used a press to caulk the trunk, kept popping out. Simply installed unsealed. Used silicone all around except rear so excess grease blows off the rear of the brake disc rotor. These lower articulated boots were factory sealed many years ago in the 70's, I don't know why they aren't factory pressed now. Above I know why, below I see no reason why the factory stopped pressing boots. All tie rod joints are no longer pressed into dust bags. Why? Lazy? Costs? The upper and lower ball joints can get grease on the disc rotors if they are over lubricated and this boot is not sealed properly so the boot "vent" is at the rear. But if it's not sealed at all, it can blow grease in any direction, including the rotor. MOOG I suggest for safety reasons to have the boots pressed in at the factory unless it is the upper ball joint which needs to be pressed in after installation. Other mechanics and maintenance personnel should exercise caution when installing a grease drain and/or over-lubricating unsealed boots. Can cause brake failure.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No performance
