Review on Enhanced Flight Safety with Stratux ADS-B Receiver: Weather & Traffic - Units with Antennas by Dennis Long

When I first bought my Stratux from Crew Dogs Electronics I had an accuracy problem that never improved beyond 30 meters except for a short time. When I called and spoke to their tech support, I was immediately offered a replacement unit and received it in about three days. The new device had the accuracy of 10m listed in ForeFlight more than 95% of the time. Since the internal GPS had to be WAAS, 10m was not enough. Their tech support (in the same conversation as before) suggested I buy an external receiver which was mentioned in one of their tutorial videos. The VK-162 I bought from the Stratux store for $18 arrived in two days (I have a Prime). I immediately installed it following the tutorial video and noticed that the accuracy reported by ForeFlight went from 10 meters to 3 meters. This combination is extremely effective and gives the user true WAAS accuracy. With this, Crew Dog Electronics has proven legendary customer service. The only suggestion I can make to Crew Dog Electronics is to offer two versions of their device, one as they sell it now and one with the VK-162 as the GPS (at whatever price point that supports their rate ).
