Review on πŸ”§ Ingersoll Rand 3101G Angle Grinder: Enhancing Precision and Performance by Jason Dahlkemper

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Make sure you really tighten the collet as these wrenches cannot provide the torque required.

Basically this tool works well. It is not expensive. Yes, there are unknown brands of Chinese tools that are even cheaper, but since a semi-professional air grinder like this costs around $100, it's not expensive, although some reviewers seem to think so, measuring the price from cheapest to normal . However, wrenches are way too short. I know they saved pennies on the metal here, but they can't tighten the collet enough. I found that as the tool was withdrawn, the cutter slowly moved out of the collet. When you press the tool, it slowly moves inwards. Very dangerous! I had to use longer wrenches to properly tighten the collet. Everything was fine there. As with all collets, you should leave about 1/8 inch of the bottom of the collet exposed. Otherwise it may get stuck trying to remove the cutter and since you have to push it down to release the cutter you can't do that. I mention this because if the cutter moves to the bottom of the collet because it isn't clamped tight enough, you may have trouble getting it back out.

Pros
  • 1/3 HP MOTOR: Runs on air, not electricity, and features a 1/3 HP motor, 1/4" collet, rear exhaust, and self-locking throttle. With a speed of 20,000 rpm, it also masters difficult tasks
Cons
  • Slightly dented
