Review on Craig HDMI Player Remote CVD401A by Chris Tisdale

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The Craig 401A DVD player I bought for my mother turned out to be defective.

When using a DVD movie from a still packaged disc, the player did not display a menu, did not support movie playback, and displayed subtitles in the wrong color. I have a duplicate of the same film that I checked at home on my DVD player and the subtitles were yellow instead of light green like the Craig 401A. But there was a small problem. The main problem was that Craig's player reset the movie and went to the menu with great difficulty, which also reset. The remote only worked when held within two feet of the player and only when pointed at them at a right angle. I will ask that the separate service contract that I purchased be honored. The player was a gift. I'm an ex-electronics engineer so I know I set it up correctly with the separately purchased HDMI cable. If I had a TV, I would plug it in to test it; but my mother's TV is fairly new and modern. It ruined my elderly mother's Christmas. I'll pay my mom back, but I'm ashamed of Craig.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Price piggy bank
