All the characteristics of this heating pad are perfect - just for a coffee mug. I know, I know, it's made for coffee, so what's my problem? Well, I've used this to heat mugs, glasses, bowls and plates, but it just doesn't work unless what you're heating fits in that recessed circular area (which is deeper than it looks). Otherwise it will heat up a little, but far from the advertised/set temperature. Unfortunately that was my need so this heating pad didn't work for me but that's a shame because it's the best heating pad I've seen and I've tried four already. If you just need to warm up your mug, this is the best choice, which is why I gave it 5 stars.
