Never again: Project Electronics is out of date

I took a flyer for this DAC. I recently switched from a more modern amp (two channel setup) to a vintage Sansui. Although I love my Sansui, I missed being able to control the volume with the remote control. So I replaced my current DAC with this product. If it fits a bit nice. I packed it all up. USB to laptop, coaxial to CD player, optical to TV. pure sound. Not very clinical sounding. Sharp, not too hard. filter options. High definition support. Remote pre/volume control (remote is one of those cheap credit card remotes but it works). . For a low/mid price DAC this thing was a champ! I have been very satisfied with this product for about 28 days. . . .Out of nowhere, nothing came out of this thing as mangled static garbage. Extremely dissatisfied. I would also like to point out that this isn't the first time I've had problems with Project Electronics. I had a Project RPM 3 turntable and a Tube Box DS phono stage. Both were fine. I eventually transitioned from them to greener pastures, but they are wonderful products. Buy, Project Maia was also mine for a very short time. . . Until I got electrocuted when I touched the top. . .So I have a 50% success rate with project gear. 0% on non-player gear. I don't want to be too negative here and hey if you buy this it might last you 50+ years but as far as I know I will never buy a Project product again. I will say I liked it when it worked. An extremely versatile product that can basically do everything a DAC can do. If you decide to try this out, I hope you have a better overall experience than I did.

  • Electronics
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
