Review on 🎧 DuKabel USB Audio Adapter - USB to 3.5mm TRS Jack AUX Adapter with Built-in Chip for Headset and Microphones - Metal Housing, Durable Braided Cable (9.8inch) by Shawn Pollock

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Updated: works but beware: (mic in didn't work)

UPDATED: Dukabel contacted me and they were very accommodating. Although I eventually resolved the issue myself, they were very active in trying to resolve my issue. I have raised my rating from 2 to 5 stars. Answer: The microphone input on this unit is MONO BALANCED TRS (sleeve with a ring on top). The tip carries the mono signal, the ring carries the ground, and the sleeve carries the bias. Classic headphones/earphones and devices such as MP3 players are STEREO UNBALANCED TRS with the tip on the left, the ring on the right and the sleeve ground. My police scanner is the same. Attempting to run a regular TRS cable from the scanner to this microphone input will not work. In short, I need to buy a couple of adapters to split left and right into two unbalanced mono signals, then convert one of them to balanced mono and send it to the input of this unit. So today I learned something and this unit isn't defective - you just have to be careful what you put into the mic input. END OF UPDATED REVIEW. The problem I'm having is that the microphone input (pink) doesn't work when using a 3-pin connector as Dukabel claims. I've tried several mics that use a 3 pin connector just like the picture and it doesn't work when the connector is fully inserted. Don't stay there so I resorted to duct tape to properly secure the connector and dukabel entry. Even then, every vibration around him turns it on and off. I wrote to Dukabel's support and they didn't reply. I'll give them another day or two, but if they don't have a solution I'll send them back and try another brand. I'm generously giving them two stars - if you just want one exit and aren't worried about a faulty entrance then I think it's fine for eight bucks. END OF ORIGINAL REVIEW
