Review on πŸ“Ά Meraki MR56 Indoor Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax Access Point with Multigigabit Ethernet and Enterprise License - A Robust Solution for Reliable and Secure Network Connectivity by Cathy Gonzales

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High Quality Wi-Fi 6 AP

Bought Meraki MR56 to replace UniFi 6 LR APs that were inefficient and had connectivity issues. The Meraki MR56 is significantly more expensive, but you get what you pay for. The MR56 APs are designed for true commercial/enterprise deployments. The Meraki hotspot looks like it will be around for a few more years. The mounting hardware is much easier to use than the UniFi 6. Although not as snug to the ceiling. Meraki MR56 is completely silent. There have been other models with electronic buzzing, but this is imperceptible on the 3 MR56 access points I have deployed. Power consumption is much lower than I would have expected from an 8x8 AP. The MR56 supports POE+, but in my deployment, the access points draw only 9-10 watts each. Wireless throughput is fantastic, with current Apple WiFi 6 devices consistently hitting 700-800 Mbps. Beamforming and MU-MIMO support are still limited on the client side, so achieving real-world multi-gigabit throughput is not quite there yet. Meraki's compatibility and connectivity is superior to UniFi. There were no unexplained connectivity issues with Sonos, Peloton, Apple, Nest, and many other IoT devices. It's just worth the extra cost to reduce frustration.
