Review on Men's Shave & Hair Removal - Schick Quattro Titanium Razor Refills by Angela Santos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My current favorite razor blades are

My current favorite is the Schick Quattro Titanium wet razor. Arguably a little less annoying than the Gillette Mach3 Sensitive, it still offers the same close shave and lasts 10-14 days (compared to about a week for the Mach3). The 5th trimmer blade is also practical. Almost never had cuts or bumps when shaving in the shower after pre-shaving with the excellent Panasonic ES8249S. They're relatively inexpensive at $2.32 each at Revain (compared to $2.90 for the Mach3 Sensitive cartridge and $4 for the Fusion Proglide Power cartridge, which doesn't work any better for me) . I used to buy 2 x 4 packs on subscription and saved, but now I see that 8 packs are also available without S&S for $2.15 each. You can save even more and buy a seemingly identical cartridge from Costco's Edge brand stores, complete with a nice shiny black metal razor. I can't say Fusion Proglide Power is better than Mach3 Sensitive. While it seemed like a good idea after it was first introduced, Gillette electric shavers make enough noise that you can't hear them when cutting your stubble, and it doesn't seem to improve the speed, comfort, or closeness of your shaver. I also spent a lot of time perfecting the double-edged shave, using top-of-the-line European, American and Japanese razors and a variety of established blades. At best, the shave is incredibly close, but for me it almost always results in lots of tiny crusts being cut off on my skin. The process is much slower, with three or four passes, and if you try to rush it you'll bleed even more. And after buying all those expensive European creams, soaps and balms, not to mention razors, the overall cost of shaving doesn't bite, despite the lower cost of blades. I keep coming back to the Schick Quattro Titanium!
