Baddest Bee fire fuses are ready to use lighters, versatile and really work

Bogoyavlensky fire fuses work. Yes of course you can use cotton balls and petroleum jelly or soak a cotton swab in a good wax mixture (leave some good cotton for a quick fire), or maybe better a cotton toothpack strip, but they work. pretty pretty. Follow directions to rub and reveal interior. I use one as a "match" by inserting it into a section of small ID brass tubing (a spent 22" case cut off the base works well too); Just use your BIC to light the end, use it like a long burning, hard to extinguish match to light the tinder, then use brass to quench the flame. (You can also soak segments of twisted jute twine in wax for this useful item.) Having these two items in your kit with a good ferrocerium stick, BIC, or matchstick will make starting a fire much more reliable. (Of course, a Mora or Cold Steel pocket knife with a Triad Lockβ€”blades that can split twigs and turn tinderβ€”is also "not leaving home without it.”) Let me also add that those are Epiphany Outdoor Gear Pocket Bellows not a 'toy' but a really effective means of 'stoking the flame', whether initially cautiously to catch tinder and kindling, or later increasing the flame as if a smith had kindled a larger or raw kindling and lit the make a fire or cook food. it's light, cheap and works.
