I'm 5'11, 140lbs and bought M and L to see what would be more comfortable for me to wear. The medium fit and didn't feel too small, but the skirt has spandex and I could feel it shrinking and moving around the waist for some "extras" middle aged. The plus size made for a more flattering line, and due to the spandex, it didn't ride up around my waist and made me look a little longer as an added benefit. If you are older and don't need a tight fit, one size might be right for you. The short bottom is a spandex cycling short that fits very well.
