Review on Neewer 3200K 5600K Brightness Adjustable Photography by Brad Knierim

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well built but poorly programmed

The build is good and the app works surprisingly well! But the HSL settings don't work well enough. As with the other brand I tried, the Neewer panels slide smoothly through the color gamut until you get to the reds. You get some pink/purple hues and then it becomes like this solid red and then jumps to orange (I bought 2 to make sure not just one slab was the problem). So you can't get shades of pink to orange other than a solid red. Not a big deal, but annoying because the only reason you'd buy an RGB panel is so you can input super-specific colors without gels, right? In any case, the price isn't such a big deal, but it's an issue other brands don't have. Of the three brands of this panel style/size that I have purchased, this one was average in price and performance. It's bright and the custom white mode works great, but the cheaper Pixel panel I bought had a brighter output and had no HSL bump issues. With all of these less expensive RGB panels, the fading and desaturation seems very imprecise (e.g. if you desaturate a warm color it gets bluer the closer it gets to white), but that's probably not a big deal for most users (I'm on ) because you can probably still pick a color, it just takes longer to find. Overall it's good for the price, but the cheaper Pixel panels I have are better for me.
