Review on ๐Ÿ”ง CFR Performance Black EDP Steel Transmission Pan - Compatible/Replacement for Chevy/GM 700R4-4L60E-4L65E by Bruce Cavett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Updated, best score, 1 to 4 stars

Drain plug did not arrive even though it was included. The VirVentures salesperson was unhelpful after days of email correspondence. I had to order another pan. I hope it's complete this time. From 1 star to 4 stars ONLY for the product! The seller was the same as before. So be aware that you may face the same issues with a missing drain plug and wasted time. The pan is solid and I think it's a great replacement for the original as the original doesn't have a drain plug. I like to change fluids on a regular basis to extend the life of my main components and those of my customers. Also note that there is no magnet included, so be sure to install one or transfer it from the original skillet. This pan fits perfectly and is actually slightly deeper than my original one. The drain plug is exceptionally cool. The supplied washer/gasket is much stronger than the usual ones for e.g. engine oil plugs. Auto 86 S10 2.8L Pickup. On the 700R4/4L60 models it has an Aux VB preset. No leaks so far either. I always use a rubber grommet over the plug (I've always split it and ended up leaking) and the torque is 8-10 ft-lbs. (don't overtighten either). I should post an update how it holds up. Will it rust prematurely? I live in the Rust Belt in the New England states. I bought this from a "VirVentures" vendor but Revain which I think is important to list this information. I have met sellers with different products including fakes even if they are listed under the same brand. New. I can't say the same for other pans I own like the Dorman brand. You have to understand that I make my living working on cars so I've tried many brands and try to look for quality or OEM whenever possible. Other oil pans purchased were typically engine oil pans, but the oil pans were still exposed to the same elements. Although other (brands) are colored, you can feel the difference in the weight of this pan. Also, I'm mostly referring to steel pans, not aluminum pans. So I can safely say I would recommend this transmission pan to anyone looking for quality metal or construction to replace a drain.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
