Review on πŸ”‹ OKEAH LCD Display Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector, Battery-Operated CO Alarm with Replaceable Batteries, Model YJ-901 by Quvarious Morrow

Probably a good deal

I've read that a big problem in the fire alarm industry is false alarms which frustrate people enough to pull their batteries. To combat false alarms, this device (and probably most) will wait 5 minutes to detect heavy smoke before triggering! I held one of them over a smoking oil on the stove and was a little dismayed that he had to wait so long. The fire seems to be taking a long time to spread. I've tried activating the carbon monoxide alarm by holding it in front of the water heater exhaust for a few minutes to no avail. Perhaps a high-efficiency burner doesn't produce much CO. But I wonder how bad the air must be to sound the alarm. The tick button is probably supposed by law to sound an alarm, but I wish there was a way to read the current CO level without blowing your ears. The display and backlight will stay on for about 5 seconds. Assuming the electronics and factory testing are legit, my only real complaint is the plastic mounting ring. It's absurdly difficult, like trying to tighten a nut on a damaged bolt. Also, it would be nice if it had mounting indicators so you know the final orientation of the display.
