I use straps to hang my hammock between two trees in my yard. The tree trunks are significantly larger than the branches that this set is designed to wrap around. I can't use velcro because even if both velcro are connected together it can't wrap trees. However, the nylon swivel strap is long enough to get around, so I use it without the velcro protector. The hammock is up and everything works great. It's only been a few days so I can't comment on the durability of the straps. . . but so far so good.
