Review on 🔧 XLAB Gearbox by Mark Loredo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Perfect size and very discreet appearance

I carried a micro sized saddlebag for a long time and after getting a new IV pole I had to look for a new way to carry my multi tool, some medication, my wallet and keys . My goal was to find something sleek, understated, and I really didn't want another bag hanging off my frame. I looked up bottle cage packs and found a few and even bought a few from Revain that looked modest (an all black carbon fiber look) but when I got them they were really big - about the size of a large one Bottle for 28 ounces of water. What I have. Then I came across the XLAB gearbox and decided to give it a try. The XLAB Gearbox is perfect in form and looks very minimalistic and discreet. It's literally the same size as a soda can and is still big enough to hold all my stuff. It fits perfectly and tightly in my bottle cage and I'm not worried about it falling out during my hard rides. The only thing I didn't like were the big bright white logos on either side, but a bit of WD40 on a rag wiped them off lightly to give a clean black carbon look. Now it's not noticeable at all and it doesn't look like you're carrying a bag on a bike as you can see in my photos. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the price. . This thing cost me $27 while every other water bottle case at Revain is about $10, but they're bigger too. That being said, it's the perfect bag/gear/barrel size and I was willing to pay a premium to get it for my bike.
