The actual temperature was not even close to the selected setting. I preheated the frying oil and set it to 340 degrees and the machine ran well over 410 degrees. I then tried other temperature settings and they were all far from 260 degrees, which actually heated the oil to over 380 degrees. I am returning this device and will receive a replacement. If it works properly I will update this review to reflect that. The exchange works in the same way as with the first device. The seller explained to me that the temperature selection is NOT the cooking temperature, it is the temperature of the solenoid. That's great, but this device can't do what I need it to do, which is heat the oil and keep the temperature of the oil at around 350 degrees for frying. If I choose the 180 degree setting the oil heats up to around 300 degrees and if I choose the 260 degree setting the oil heats up to around 400 degrees and I can't choose anything in between. So this block will be returned and I will look for another block that has a higher temperature value/smaller step in degrees.
