I used to use less comfortable in-ear headphones but decided to buy them when I found out my arcade was a Lightning Beatmania IIDX -model got. I would play it a lot more often than other headphone amps, so I needed something I was happy to use for extended periods of time. On a busy Saturday night I literally only hear the game I'm playing. It doesn't even need to be turned on loud. Screaming children, crowds jumping into Pump It Up cabs, the noise of other cars - all of this is inaudible. That's great! They save my ears a lot of fatigue as they don't need to be turned up loud at all to sound good or isolate noise. They have a big impact on how much I enjoy the game for a long time and my ears don't ring when I'm done. I used to have Klipsch headphones that didn't hold up very well. Until they were /uncomfortable/, having to constantly adjust them was very distracting, and doubly so if one of them started slipping while I was in the middle of a song. Etymotics are very convenient, you can use them for a while and then forget about them. Obviously arcade machines don't have the best headphone amps in the world, but for my use case they're fantastic. I tested them at home on a Monoprice tube amp/DAC (they're no longer made so I forgot the exact model) and they sounded pretty good, although they sounded like the amp didn't match them. . You'll probably sound better with something nicer. Because they are so sensitive, there is virtually no volume cap on all the machines I play. So if I want to crank up the volume, that's no problem. This is a flat frequency response version. Enhanced bass could have been better in my case, but in my opinion a flat frequency response is more versatile (and the IIDX case has a built-in EQ anyway; useful!). They certainly hit the bass with no problems, but you can tell it's recruited. flat, so it's not a bass boom unless you EQ it that way. For people who don't want to mess with it and don't necessarily have mixing or audiophile needs, the bass-boosted version is probably worth considering. to get rid of the plastic fibers with a little provocation, so i bought another one (don't want them in my ears). My old pair of Klipschs have a tangle resistant cord which I didn't really appreciate until I got these. Since the cables are interchangeable, it would be nice to add this feature!
