My honest review. 👍

I am very happy with these puppies. They have an amazingly clear and crisp sound. Even up to the maximum volume (which they have in abundance), the sound remains very clear. The soundstage is about as good as IEM can get, but not as good as a good pair of headphones or studio monitors. My Sennheiser HD599se, for example, produced a much wider sound while still being accurate. The only stumbling block was the lack of extended bass response. As for the Studio Edition, I've read that it does, but…

Very detailed, very accurate sound - love them

Excellent headphones. The sound is amazing. They are razor sharp and the details are pin sharp, almost perfect. They have a great sound, very balanced. The mids sound nice and are in the spotlight. Bass is present but not overwhelming. High frequencies never turn into a screech. And the strongest point is the soundproofing. They are great for blocking background noise at work, the gym, and on the plane. Not perfect, but really good. And if, like me, you think active noise cancellation is a sin,

Great bass and powerful, balanced response

I've used the ER3XR for most of the year and loved it, but I always found the bass to be overpowering. Based on some reviews I assumed the ER3SEs would probably be too lean with bass - and I expected them to be halfway there - but I wanted to try the ER3SEs because I saw their frequency chart and realized how accurate they are. There is. I love good strong bass and let me assure you the ER3SE delivers a lot. The bass is deep, tight and rich. Instead of always being in the foreground and…

Pros
  • Studio-level precision
Cons
  • Lack of power

I used to use less comfortable in-ear headphones but decided to buy them when I found out my arcade was a Lightning Beatmania IIDX -model got. I would play it a lot more often than other headphone amps, so I needed something I was happy to use for extended periods of time. On a busy Saturday night I literally only hear the game I'm playing. It doesn't even need to be turned on loud. Screaming children, crowds jumping into Pump It Up cabs, the noise of other cars - all of this is inaudible…

Pros
  • Frequency Response - 20Hz - 16kHz and Impedance - 22 ohms
Cons
  • Some minor things

Edit: This is a review of both the Etymotic ER3 SE and XR. I had two separate verified purchase reviews when they were different listings but they have now been merged into one list so I removed the additional review. The TL; DR is that the SE is great and the XR is a "nice try" but I wouldn't recommend it. - Typical Etymotic Flat Sound - and XR with improved bass response. They both sit between the HF3 and ER4 in terms of build quality. The cable isn't as strong as a threaded ER4 cable, but…

Pros
  • Range of ear tips for 35-42 dB isolation from ambient noise; 120dB max output power
Cons
  • Not all as good as written
