Review on Enhanced Communication: Motorola Talkabout T800 Two-Way Radios - Reliable 2 Pack in Striking Black/Blue Design by James Womble

After testing these little radios in the National Forest (no more than a quarter mile apart), here are my findings: 1. The radio is OK. Medium skills tx/rx.2. Bluetooth setup is easy and quick - Android connection (two Samsung S10 phones running the latest version of Android)3. The Motorola Talkabout app leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, it's similar to what I've seen a lot at Motorola - the MBAs introduced it before the engineers had finished the product. Basically, the TalkAbout app behaves like software that is in late beta – still somewhat buggy and definitely incomplete. For example, no user can select another user to send a chat message; Sending a location to another user does nothing on the recipient's side - no changes to the map, no additional user appears on the map (and yes, both users added the other to their devices). Bottom line - if you need a slightly above average FRS radio, they will work for you. If the ability to send chats and locations appeals to you, you can wait until the software development cycle is complete (as of March 2021, this is not the case).
