Review on Lisle 63250 Range Filter Wrench by Shawn Sims

save the day in oil filter wrench

Stuck filter on 2002 Silverado 2500 HD. Filter in a very narrow spot with very little access. I've tried everything else but the lack of access and sharing didn't help. I ended up buying and using it. First I used needle nose pliers to twist the ends of the spring to keep it from loosening, that seems to have helped. It took me a few minutes to install the filter tool due to the limited access to the filter, but I put it on and the spring held it in place. I then tried using an impact wrench but ended up making a small hole in the filter which got oil into my eye. Then I tried the jumper and it came off immediately. Don't hesitate, buy it now. While this is a tool to pass down to your grandkids, the spring will most likely not last long and will need to be replaced with a rubber band or something.

Pros
  • Steel jaws grip the filter without slipping.
Cons
  • Weight
