I initially bought them to make various lengths of cable to mount my security cameras on trees. Unfortunately, trees are not all the same size, so the cables that come with the cameras only work with a small range of tree sizes! With these hooks I can make cords of different lengths so the size of the tree doesn't matter. Now I can focus on placing my cameras in the best possible spot. Huge benefit! The reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because while they work well with 3/16 inch shock cords, the hook size is larger than camera cords. , they still cling to the camera.
