A lot of potential is blocked by terrible system software.

Unfortunately, the default software on this router is kryptonite. The router kept dropping connections due to the Wi-Fi signal as the router tried to switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz when Smart Connect was enabled. Why? Probably a software glitch since devices less than 15 feet away have an open view of the router. This router was used for a small room. It also randomly blocked LAN-to-LAN connections for no reason. The only way around this is to restart the router every time this problem occurs. It's terrible if you're using a local area network to connect to a PC/laptop from a mobile device on your home network, or if you're using smart devices like smart lightbulbs or other smart home devices, because their connections will drop as well . I contacted tech support regarding this but never received a response and recommended updating the firmware. The router had the latest firmware by the way. Finally terrible USB storage support. The only fully supported file system for USB was NTFS (native to Windows). There is no exFat or other file systems commonly used by USB flash drives, so they can be used on almost any device. I would need to format the USB device as NTFS so I can read and write to the USB over the network via Samba. I had enough problems with this router that I decided to go with OpenWRT as firmware instead of stock. firmware. The problems disappeared immediately and the installation is now stable. I'm sure this will void my warranty, but in my case the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It's hard to believe that for the price I paid for this router I can get the same quality in another router for 60% the cost of this router. The only thing I liked about the router's stock firmware was the user interface. But I would be lucky if it loaded as sometimes it just gave me a blank page or the app crashed when trying to log into the router.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
