Not satisfied with D-Link DIR 2640 us. (Replacement Overview)

The router cuts the connection between devices such as iPhone, ROKU, Epson printers, iMac. Spent many hours on D-Link techniques that were difficult to understand. They made me turn off the "Smart Connect" feature, which toggles between 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Now I have to manually select 2.4Ghz on my iPhone XR, iPad 7th gen etc to print to my Epson printer. A few days later my devices fail to find the Epson printer again and have to select 2.4GHz again to print. This WIFI is a real agony. Nothing is

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Hard to tell

100x better than an ISP provided router.

Just buy it, it works great with Frontier fios. All you have to do is release your DHCP from the old router's settings and immediately disable it so it doesn't get a new lease and you're done. 250 Mbps on 5g and 120 on 2g will cover a 1500 square foot house.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Low repairability

A lot of potential is blocked by terrible system software.

Unfortunately, the default software on this router is kryptonite. The router kept dropping connections due to the Wi-Fi signal as the router tried to switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz when Smart Connect was enabled. Why? Probably a software glitch since devices less than 15 feet away have an open view of the router. This router was used for a small room. It also randomly blocked LAN-to-LAN connections for no reason. The only way around this is to restart the router every time this problem occursโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

DO NOT BUY - DO NOT WILL

Worked fine for about 1 month then started to fail - whole streaks just disappeared. Passwords that worked an hour ago no longer work. The 2.4G group will just disappear. Not worth the money and hassle. Tried contacting customer support to no avail. The promised phone calls never came, and when they did, he could barely speak English. It's hard to justify spending that much money on something that will be thrown away in 3 months.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Drops devices multiple times a day

For a $140 wireless router, this DLink sucks. It does what others have warned against. He drops devices throughout the day. And when those devices try to reconnect, it won't let them. Even if you try to reconnect manually and re-enter the WiFi password. Simply turning the router off and on again will fix everything. How silly for a $140 wireless router. I had a Honeywell smart thermostat, a Brother wireless MFC printer, and a gaming laptop. And yes, in less than 2 days of use, all 3 have failed

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Intermittent Performance

I bought this DIR-2640 to replace my AC-1750 which I had for over 4 years. It still worked fine and I didn't want to replace it, but I did because I needed 4 networks and a stronger signal. DIR=2650 worked fine for about a month and then the download speed became unstable. In the D-Link application, the tested download speed from my modem to the router is always in the 265-285 Mbps range. First, the download speed from the router, tested with Ookla Speedtest, was 265 to 280 at 5G. Then it drops

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Not bad but...
