Bad execution, good idea

TLDR; The design is what I was looking for, but considering the price, it's cheap. Better buy a cheaper case, they are better made. Introduction: This case was exactly what I was looking for which is why I am so disappointed. This case has a very sleek design with some good ideas, but when I opened it up and took a closer look, the quality was very poor. Cons: The camera cutout looks like it was cut with scissors and the way they glued TPU to clear plastic is messy and looks awful. (if you look closely at the photos in the description you will see this) The vent cutout is rounded and not the same shape as the vent hole, making it look chunky and cheap compared to other cases. Air vent cover The USB-C port on the side isn't even on the top, it's on the bottom. The buttons on the side are soft and uncomfortable to press. The marketing images emphasize that the frame around the screen is raised. 0.8mm and that might be true, but definitely not enough protection in case your phone falls on the screen; especially when you consider that once you place the screen protector on the screen, the screen is flush with the frame. PSA time: I have another case with a decent bezel. It was maybe a bit thicker than this and I wanted to protect my investment so I installed a screen protector. Putting this screen protector on has cost me a huge repair fee. Because the difference in the thickness of the screen protector and the edge of the case was so small that one day I dropped my phone and it landed on the screen, all the force of the impact was transferred to the screen and the screen shattered. fully. Without a very special thick bezel case, this phone should NOT have a screen protector. PSA is over. All that said I don't just want to highlight how bad the product is it's unfair as they have some ideas I really like. Pros: The screen protector is probably the best part of this phone. I know I said you shouldn't get a screen protector, but with the RIGHT CASE, this is probably the best screen protector I've seen on this phone in terms of cutout quality. Everything is pretty slick and while it's not very flush with the speakers, it's a lot better than any regular screen protector you can get for this phone. Well done. The next best thing in this case is the design. The cover for the USB-C port on the side is a great idea, it's too fiddly to pull out the rubber piece that you can only pull out with long nails and then you have to keep an eye on it, I almost never use it because of that the USB C on the side and that solves this problem. Welcome addition, I love the idea of adding charms to your phone and would love to see more cases with them. The last thing I really like is the look. I love the looks of the ROG Phone 2, and other than the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, no other ROG phone has blown my mind quite like this one. I really appreciate the fact that the case allows the back of the phone to show through by framing it in black and it's what I've been looking for in terms of a case, basically since I've had the phone, so I was so excited to find it and why am i so disappointed. The cutouts for the bottom charging port, headphone jack, microphones, and air triggers are very standard. There is no flickering on the plastic, that's all I can say. The front of the case, where the air triggers are located, is fairly flimsy, but that's an issue you'll run into on every case for this phone except those that don't protect the sides. Extras: This case doesn't fit an aero cooler, I think that's obvious from the lack of cutouts on the back, but if you weren't sure, here's your confirmation. I don't care about an aeroactive cooler and don't consider it a priority, so I don't dock on it. There's practically only one case that the accessory fits in, and it comes with the phone (a Kunai controller case might fit the cooler, but I'm not going to spend $250 on a controller). In order for the case to fit in the cooler, it has to be quite thin and make the phone vulnerable. Conclusion: If you've read this far, you're probably thinking that most of my complaints are quibbles, and I can understand why it might seem that way. case, but when you consider the price of an item, it all makes more sense. This item retails for $18 without a screen protector and $20 with one. I have two other cases that are $8 and $9 respectively and both are significantly better quality than this one. One offers more protection than the other but looks worse, while the other looks better but doesn't protect as well. Given what you're paying, I'd say you're better off getting one of these other cases, even if they don't show the back of the phone. The quality is poor and cheap and the protection is no more impressive than other cases and if they were the same price as these cases or cheaper given the poor quality control I would definitely write another review but since I really hope so this product will get better in the future, although that is unlikely. My phone was expensive. I don't want to defend it with something that looks cheap and shabby, whether it works or not, considering there are products that definitely work and don't look cheap, albeit not at half the price.
