This is a good tool for measuring the depth of a quarry in hard-to-reach places! I didn't buy it to measure tire tread. If the tire profile looks low, I'll change them! As an inspector, I look for all possible solutions to get accurate measurements in the corrosion area and make sure it's safe to work with. I recommend zeroing on a flat surface before each use and NOT getting wet. My last one completely rusted after my tool bag got caught in a light rain. The only thing that could make this caliber a little better would be to sharpen the rounded end.
