Update 3: great news. Turns out the part that usually breaks in this soldering iron/iron can be replaced with a cheaper Hakko nipple, PN B2022. You can buy it online from many major suppliers including Revain (I used eBay as there are many options). Not only does it fit perfectly, it also appears to be of better quality. I upgraded it to one star as maintainability is a plus. No more thrown away. Update 2: Upgraded from 5 to 1 to 3 stars. The seller refunded my money and I will buy again. Fingers crossed, the second device lasts longer. Note: I believe the defective part can be replaced with an equivalent Hakko part as it looks like a rough copy for now (e.g. port freight tools). It would help get more miles out of it. ************************************************* * ******Update: After very moderate use, the solder pin has expired. There is a plastic nut holding the tip in place, which seems to be the weak point. After several cycles of cooling and heating, it simply became brittle and fell apart. I can't use it at all anymore and am way behind on the project now. All I really need is a replacement nut and hopefully the seller will send me a new one, replace the unit, or give me a full refund. I can use 3-4 full hours which is a shame. ************************************** ********** ** *** **** First Review: What can I say - it works. I used a few Weller soldering irons over the years until this station came out which I consider a functional upgrade. It's not that hard, but it gets the job done. It comes with all kinds of tips you need for most jobs. Also, it comes with some great component tweezers (which I needed) and a large spool of solder, which I also needed. tips. It wasn't a problem, it just made me run a little slower on large solder joints.
