In fact, this is an LSI controller. If you are migrating hard drives from an old LSI, they may import successfully. I was able to integrate this controller with an HP SAS expander. I had to change the controller settings (disable directpdmapping via cli) to integrate with the extender. This controller is fast enough and great for the money spent. Make no mistake, this is an old controller. But the good thing is that this controller will work with more or less all workstations/servers, while the HP p812 controller, while better in functionality and throughput, is very specific and may not work in a non-HP environment.
