Review on Bean Envy Gooseneck Coffee Kettle by Kyle Pickett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

With dozens to choose from, why this one!?!?!?!?

I've been using it for 3 months, I use it 5 days a week, the kettle is like new. I actually ordered 3 teapots from Revain. I'm sure they love it but I wasn't 100% happy with the rest. I use this for my Bodum coffee every morning. I'm not a coffee snob. I do not grind coffee and do not buy high-quality individual blends. I buy what is sold at Costco so this review is based on people like that! A quick overview before I talk about the other two teapots. That's a good kettle. No stains in 3 months. The size is perfect for my 1 liter pour over. I fill this to the bottom of the top ring with cold filtered water from the fridge. Put it on top and set my kitchen timer for 7 minutes. Electric stove with glass plate. Hits around 200 at that 7 minute mark. I fill. Remove the top (which may be easier), pour out the excess water, making sure to pour out everything in the gooseneck. Hang the lid on the side of the kettle and because it's still hot, it dries quickly. People talk about rust and stains and I think that helps prevent it. I compared the temp with another thermometer I have and they agreed. So I also bought a Gator coffee infuser and an Ovalware RJ3 stainless steel drip kettle. The oval bowl was a 1 liter teapot. It just seemed too small. I had to fill it to the brim with water to get enough to make my morning coffee. The base was smaller than the other two, so it took a little longer to heat up. I like that there are no seams at the bottom. Is it important? I don't know, but his description made me feel like it was a good selling point. Coffee Gator was almost identical. There were several differences. I think the bottom was a little thicker. Maybe thinner. It doesn't matter, but because of that (or anyway) it made the water boil almost a minute faster than the Bean Envy. The other difference was the lid. The coffee alligator was complimentary. I emailed them and they said they would look into this for the next round. The lid of The Bean Envy is pretty tight. Maybe too tight. The other difference was the filling. They pour water the same way, but Bean Envy is more comfortable in the hand. Stupid but not really. You pour water for a minute, and your wrist becomes more comfortable. It is in a more ergonomic position. I never thought I would say something so funny about an electric kettle.
