My car: 2011 Kia Optima I have owned my car for almost 8 years. I've been changing the cabin filter since day one, so I've tried a few different brands of cabin filters [Quality 5/5] Good filter. buy this one. As you can see from my attached photo, you can see that this carbon air filter is much thicker than my old other brand filter. The charcoal layer helps get rid of the smell in the air. [Installation 5 /5] Installation is SUPER easy. Don't pay a dealer for it! it takes no more than 5 minutes![PROFILE TIP] - Write the installation date on the side of the air filter. =)- You should vacuum this filter every few months to maintain the filter. - Replace it every year or, if you live in a dirty polluted city, about 10 months. - Dirty air filter = bad smell in the car. [Note. ] My 2011 Kia Optima air conditioner smelled funny BEFORE I serviced it. I did TWO maintenance jobs. Kia Original Fluid UM090-CH035 Air Conditioning Cleaner and Refresher Kit - 18oz / 4oz. You should have a hose to connect to the air conditioner drain. (This step eliminates the musty smell of the A/C condenser) 2. Cabin air filter replacement AFTER cleaning the A/C.
