Review on Portland Design Works Shovel Fender by Brian Wersching

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I liked it and was able to adjust it to fit my rack

I use a Mud Shovel 6.5 front fender as well as the rear. I love them so much because they are light and strong like they should be and they really protect me from dirt, mud and puddles. I liked the rear fender so much that I put off buying a rack because I didn't want to lose the fender guard (plus I love the fun paint splatter pattern). Eventually I needed a trunk, but I was able to mount the fender to the luggage rack. It helps keep my panniers clean because those knobby wide tires really throw through whatever you drive through. Before the fender was attached to the trunk, it survived several falls and always remained in good condition. It may have had to be adjusted after a good crash on the bar, but it never broke. I didn't find anything I didn't like about the fender once you've mounted it on the rack, but it does take a little patience.
