To hear is to believe. This is good stuff.

If you're looking to replace your old speaker cable, this is for you. I noticed a 1.4dB increase in overall volume after replacing my old 12ga. Monster wire with this GLS AUDIO True 12 AWG. Here's a lesson for those who don't know this important fact. The sound on the speaker wire is transmitted as alternating current between the amplifier and the speaker. Now here's the part that I'm sure most of you don't know. AC current flows ONLY across the surface of each individual strand. Alternating current cannot flow through a solid in a wire, only across the surface. The technical term for this is called skin effect. Go to Google and type in "Skin Effect". This GLS AUDIO 12 AWG wire is made of oxygen-free copper that is coated with aluminum-magnesium. No, it's not 100% copper wire, but that doesn't matter. As you just learned, AC current can ONLY flow across the surface of each strand of wire. Whether you're spending 4X more on MONSTER WIRE cable, which is 100% copper, or saving money on GLS AUDIO 12 AWG speaker wire, the audio stream won't notice a difference. This is because the entire surface of each strand (which carries AC) is 100% copper with wires of both grades. GLS True 12 AWG, they are the same. I realize this might be too much for you die-hard old audiophiles to believe, but it's true. As I said, google it. The advantages of using copper clad aluminum are that it weighs less than half the weight of 100% copper and far less copper is required to manufacture so the cost is much lower for all of us. Performance matches the Monster brand at 1/4 the price. Both have 250 fine wires, they use the same soft outer jacket, and the copper-coated aluminum bends more easily, making it more flexible and pleasant to work with. Come on, audiophiles. Stop being guided by old books and use your common sense. Save enough money by buying 1 roll of GLS to buy 4 times more wire.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
