I used this to restore an old Winchester Model 92 walnut stock. Old wood ate the first layer very quickly. I followed the directions and left it on for 20 minutes and then wiped off the excess. The next day I applied another coat and let it dry for two days before applying the third and final coat. The texture of the wood looks nice and doesn't have a lot of shine which is what I wanted. This rifle has very intricate and beautiful carvings all over the stock and handguard and the boiled linseed oil really brought out the detail without giving the impression that it was varnished. After it is absorbed and wiped off, no oily feeling remains. I started with gloves but soon gave up and used my hands, which worked well for getting oil into all the grooves of the carvings and washing dishes. Liquid lightly washed hands. You must properly handle and dispose of or clean the used cloth due to the possibility of the cloth spontaneously igniting if left covered with oil. much of it left.
